EU Grant to help buildBlockchain Infrastructure
Sphereon wins an EU eSSIF-Lab grant
We’re very pleased to announce that our proposal “Presentation Exchange – Credential Query Infra” has been selected as 1 of 7 out of 299 proposals to join the second Infrastructure-oriented program of the EU’s eSSIF-Lab. This makes it the third project in the eSSIF-Lab program we are involved with, this time as a main contractor.
We’ll be providing a Presentation Exchange that creates interoperability between W3C DIF-compliant Verifiable Credentials and Hyperledger Aries-based Verifiable Credentials for the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI).
This will significantly increasing the usability of Verifiable Credentials – and with it the adoption of SSI-solutions.
The Project
We’ll be building a solution that will make the new DIF Presentation Exchange for DIF/W3C SSI solutions compatible with the Aries Present Proof Protocol (v2).
We’ll be using a layered approach to achieve both integration and interoperability. At the lowest layers we’ll have Typescript/Javascript libraries for the rules engine component and validations. This allows for easy integrations in both web- and mobile applications.
The libraries are also exposed using an OpenAPI-specification for domain models and a REST API, close to the VC HTTP API as well as our own implementation of these.
We’ll also provide a NodeJS REST API that exposes the functionality to other programming languages for a more direct integration.
Lastly, there is a stateful bridge that integrates DIDComm v2 and CHAPI (and in the near future OpenID-Connect). The bridge will for instance allows components to talk using Presentation Exchange to Aries Present Proof v2 and will in the future support other backends as well.
Cooperation is key
As we say so often, cooperation is key.
We are convinced that without the knowledge and experience of our other partners in the NGI eSSIF-Lab we would not be as successful as we are now.
About NGI eSSIF-LAB
EUROPEAN SELF-SOVEREIGN IDENTITY FRAMEWORK LAB
eSSIF-Lab is an EU-funded project and aims at advancing the broad uptake of Self-Sovereign Identities (SSI) as a next generation, open and trusted digital identity solution for faster and safer electronic transactions via the Internet and in real life.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme within the framework of the ESSIF-Lab Project.
About the eSSIF-Lab program
The European Self-Sovereign Identity Lab (eSSIF-Lab) views itself as an ecosystem of parties that work together to make existing (and new) Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) technology into a scalable and interoperable infrastructure that businesses can use very easily for conducting (business) transactions with other businesses and individuals alike. Typically, the libraries, code or components for the infrastructure should be open source.
This second Infrastructure-oriented program will focus on the extension of the eSSIF-Lab infrastructure/architecture with solutions that makes it easy for organisations to deploy and/or use SSI, reduce business risks, facilitate alignment of business information, etc.
We will join an 9-month acceleration program, structured in 3 stages, with disbursement of equity-free funding of up to €155,000.
